Jochpass hillclimb
This is a hillclimb in southern Germany with 105 bends starting in the village of Hinderlang. The first event was held in 1923 so the 2023 event was the 100th anniversary like Le Mans.
Witth friends who live nearby we've driven up the road several times but with the local council considering banning the event on environmental grounds I decided I'd better visit!
Sorry to say I flew out but was picked up at the airport by my Godson in his Porsche 911. Each entrant gets a practice runn and three runs up the hill. The competition is won by the car that has the least difference in times on each run so cars are not competing agaist each other which means there are all sorts of cars of different ages (and power) taking part.
Plenty of British makes of car including Minis, Healeys, a Triumph Dolomite and a Hillman Imp but no British registered cars. The majority German of course but many Swiss, Austrian and Italian.
We went on the Friday to see everyone setting up and have a good look round the paddock and then went back on Saturday for the actual event, rather damp to begin with but soon cleared up. We first of all watched at the start, then drove up to the top of the hill to the finish but were able to walk down paths through the forest to watch at various corners.
